TPE elastomer finished product odor analysis and solution
TPE- thermoplastic elastomer is a new material with high elasticity, high strength and high resilience of rubber. TPE material has soft touch, good weather resistance, no plasticizer, it is a kind of environmental friendly non-toxic material, with a wide range of hardness, excellent coloring, soft touch, weather resistance, fatigue resistance and temperature resistance, excellent processing performance, no need to cure, can be recycled to reduce costs, widely used in daily use in contact with human body.
Analysis of the reason why TPE elastomer product smells so much
TPE is a mixture of polymer materials, the formulation system has a variety of oils (white oil, naphthenic oil) these volatile oil components are mainly organic hydrocarbon compounds, which are volatile at high temperatures. Moreover, the quality of the oil directly affects the size of the smell. In addition, additives are used in some formulations. The smaller the amount of additives, the smaller the smell.
TPE elastomer finished odor solution recommendations :
1.One of the components of TPE is softening oil, which is a low-molecular substance. During processing or at higher temperature, it is easy to volatilize to release small molecular substances, which is easy to cause the material to release large odor. TPE with low hardness (0~30A) has a larger odor than TPE with high hardness (70~100A). TPE without odor usually has a higher hardness.
2.Depending on the quality and degree of hydrogenation of the oil, the flavor and size of the oil itself can vary. Good softening oil taste small, inferior oil, taste heavier, even light diesel flavor. For odorless TPE, high quality oil should be selected as softener.
3.Selection of other components in the blending system. Other components should be as small as possible to choose a small smell of the components, such as the choice of plastic resin, the choice of additives and so on to consider all aspects.
TPE without smell refers to the normal temperature conditions. In high temperature molding, due to the volatilization of softening oil components and the odor released by other components, TPE materials may have a larger odor, which is a normal odor, and most polymer plastics have odor. After the material processing finished products after cooling, small molecules volatilized, the smell will slowly become smaller.
