Application of TPE thermoplastic elastomer blow molding in medical device industry. TPE thermoplastic elastomer molding methods are mainly injection and extrusion, blow molding is rarely seen. At present, it is a trend to seek alternative materials for PVC breathing bags in the medical device industry. In this regard, TPE mixing materials developed by foreign TPE manufacturers for blow molding optimization have successfully replaced PVC and been applied in medical breathing bags.
(1)TPE thermoplastic elastomer blowing process:
1.Preparation of type embryo
The TPE is melted and then extruded into a tube, known as the embryo.
2.Blow molding
Clamp the blank into the split mold, press one end of the tube and fuse it together. Air is then blown in, and the pressure of the air makes it known as the shape of the cavity.
3.Cooling the mold
After TPE products are cooled and hardened, molds are opened and finished products are pushed out.
(2)Basic physical requirements for TPE materials:
1.High melt strength and elongation
To ensure that the mould has enough time to close the mould which surrounds the extrusion mould and can be fully extended during the aeration process;
2.Weldability
TPE shall have good welding performance to ensure the fusion strength of the pressed end of the die.
Blow molding property index of TPE materials have higher requirements, and the health care industry to test the safety of the material is very strict, therefore, the current domestic TPE used in blow molding medical breathing bag, basically has not yet a mature application case. TPE thermoplastic elastomer replacement latex impregnated material production breathing bag, materials do not contain PVC and rubber latex, reduce the risk of skin allergy.
